ShareHire is an Australian peer-to-peer equipment hire marketplace. It connects you with local equipment available for hire - tools, machinery, trailers and more. ShareHire takes care of ID verification, booking and payment all in one place. 

It’s a safer, more local alternative to finding gear through social media or informal listings.

Download the app, create an account, get verified, then list your own gear or search for items to hire nearby. The app uses Google Maps technology to show the nearest items matching your search, and you can filter by category, distance, price and more. 

Booking, verification and payment all happen safely via the app.

ShareHire is free to download, and free to search for or list as many items as you like. For anyone that proceeds with hiring out equipment via ShareHire, all relevant costs will be outlined in the individual product listing. For anyone that is looking to list on ShareHire, we simply take a small commission from each completed hire, so you only ever pay when you’re actually earning.

ShareHire uses Stripe to process payments, so transactions are secure, and Stripe also powers our ID verification - so you can be confident you’re dealing with real, verified users. Our profile review system lets you see genuine customer ratings and feedback, helping both hirers and listers build trust and reputation.

Just about anything - tools, machinery, trailers and many other types of equipment. Keep in mind that listing an item doesn’t guarantee a hire, but a quality product that’s well presented and easily accessible has a much better chance of being booked.

All payments are processed securely through the app via Stripe - there’s no need to handle cash or arrange payment separately, and there’s a clear record of every transaction.

Yes. If you’ve got quality gear that spends a lot of time sitting unused, you can list it on ShareHire and earn extra income whenever someone hires it - putting equipment you’ve already invested in to work for you.

You can currently list equipment in these categories:

• Machinery - excavators, bobcats and skid steers, mini loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts and cherry pickers, telehandlers, mini dumpers
• Power Tools - jackhammers and concrete breakers, drills, grinders, circular saws
• Concreting - mixers, power screeds, finishers, concrete saws, compactors, concrete pumps
• Garden Equipment - lawn mowers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, post hole diggers, stump removers, trench diggers
• Trailers - box, tipper, flat bed and cage trailers, plus car floats
• Air Compressors - tow, portable and on site units
• Generators - portable, trailer-mounted and site generators
• Scaffolding - ladders, mobile and onsite scaffolding, trestle platforms
• Pressure Cleaners - portable pressure cleaners, surface cleaners, hot water pressure washers
• Floor Cleaners - carpet and upholstery machines, wet and dry vacs, industrial floor cleaners, floor sanders

When you create a listing, you'll pick the category and sub category that best matches your item, then add a description, the condition it's in, and any special requirements for hirers.

We're adding new categories based on what our community wants to hire, so the options will continue to grow over time.

It’s launching across NSW first - Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle/Hunter and Wollongong, with plans to expand nationally by the end of 2026.
